Solutions will be developed through detailed analysis of the manufacturing operations and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to analyze plant manufacturing operating data with a focus on maintenance, recommend, and facilitate improvements to work practices, equipment, processes, methods, and controls by striving to resolve inefficiencies and eliminate waste.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nOptimize production processes to deliver cost savings, improve quality, and support new product capabilities\nImprove process efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy, and raw materials\nAnalyze both employee and machinery workflows to streamline processes and maximize productivity while promoting personnel safety and a healthy work environment\nIdentify process bottlenecks and devise solutions to resolve them\nResearch new manufacturing technology and equipment and prepare proposals to justify the management expenditure\nMonitor and track manufacturing systems’ functionality and production records, maintain production documentation\nEnsure all processes and equipment comply with all state and federal regulations/guidelines through proactive solutions and technologies\nImplement and advance LEAN manufacturing principles, equipment reliability, and automation into plant operations\nPerform Value Stream Mapping to identify bottlenecks, Root Cause Analysis to improve quality and process\nConfer with plant management, shift operators, and maintenance personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, preventative maintenance and other considerations to facilitate production process improvements\nCommunicate effectively with shift operators, maintenance, and operational management ensuring alignment when introducing implementing new processes, work instructions, and equipment\nDevelop design and drawings (2D and 3D) using CAD software\nLead projects from design/analysis to installation and commissioning\nWork closely with operations, maintenance, EHS&Q, and necessary resources in pursuit of manufacturing efficiencies\nTrack and analyze maintenance KPI's including MTBF and MTTR and equipment/line reliability.\nDiagnose/Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and implement CAPA plants to minimize downtime\nMonitor OEE to ensure high equipment availability and performance.\nMaintain detailed database of key equipment/part suppliers, distributors, OEMs, consumables for timely and efficient procurement of parts and materials.\nOther duties as assigned\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Electrical Engineering\n3-5 years of relevant experience in an engineering or operations role\n2 years of experience utilizing LEAN and or Six Sigma methodologies\nPrevious Value Stream Mapping experience required\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and/or quality standards\nAbility to interpret and relay drawing specifications and programming commands\nExcellent computer literacy and interpersonal communication skills\nIndustrial flow/process flow, independent problem-solving skills\nCritical thinking and strategic planning skills\nGreen Belt in Lean manufacturing is an asset\nPossess basic electrical knowledge, including familiarity with PLCs, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams is an asset\nProficiency with CMMS software or prior experience with tracking and managing maintenance data in spreadsheets is essential\nProficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks or equivalent is required\nAvailability to drive and visit other Opta sites will be required\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\n\nMust be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose and evaluate issues and assist with the planning of repairs or maintenance.\nProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.\nOpta offers a diverse compensation and benefit package that includes the following:\n\nExtended Healthcare, Dental, and Vision Benefits\nHealth Savings Account\nLife, AD&D, and Dependent Life Insurance\nShort Term and Long Term Disability Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Program\nProfessional Development\nPaid Time Off\n401(k) Match\nCompetitive Compensation Program\nOn Demand Pay (Dayforce Wallet)\nWe thank everyone for applying however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
