Senior AccountantDirect HireWalker, MI$86-103k*Position is fully onsiteKelly is seeking a Senior Accountant to work for our client, a small manufacturing organization, on a direct hire basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys operating independently, taking ownership of the accounting function, and growing into a future leadership opportunity. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the current Controller and is expected to transition into the Controller role upon the incumbent’s planned retirement.This position offers a unique opportunity for long-term growth and succession planning within the organization while remaining deeply involved in the day-to-day execution of accounting activities. This role does not currently include direct people management responsibilities.The Senior Accountant will:Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activitiesPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reportsMonitor cash flow, banking activity, and financial performance to support company objectivesAssist with the development and maintenance of budgets, forecasts, and financial projectionsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirementsCoordinate and assist with audits, tax preparation, and year-end financial activitiesMaintain and improve internal accounting controls and financial proceduresReview job costing, labor tracking, and manufacturing-related financial data for accuracy and efficiencySupport management with financial analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and operational decision-makingOversee payroll processes and ensure accurate reporting and recordkeepingMaintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee informationCollaborate with department managers regarding budgets, expenditures, and financial planningAssist with insurance reporting, benefit administration coordination, and other administrative financial responsibilities as neededSupport ERP system accuracy and financial data integrityIdentify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficienciesWork closely with the current Controller to gain exposure to higher-level financial leadership responsibilities and ensure a smooth future transitionQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experienceExperience in manufacturing or industrial environments Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting practicesProficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications, especially ExcelStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentUnderstanding of manufacturing accounting and job costing preferredDemonstrated interest in professional growth and future accounting leadership responsibilitiesInterviews are happening now!
