In this role, you will support the ongoing development of our Haven-1 space station module, with a primary focus on components and assemblies testing that require quantity distance (QD) to perform. You will work closely with design REs, test technicians, and other teams such as Components, ECLSS, and Propulsion to meet design/mission requirements and industry standards.\n\nThis will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Mojave Test Site location.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nWork under the direction of the Components team to develop and execute testing on components and assemblies of the ECLSS, Propulsion, and ground support systems of the Haven-1 Space Station\nMentor other engineers and technicians on the team\nAdhere to, enforce, and improve the test processes and good practices of Vast and the test organization\nProduce professional and traceable documentation, including electrical, mechanical, and fluid schematics of the test systems\nWork with responsible engineers to design, prepare, and execute test campaigns. This includes the manufacture of new test stands and/or operation of existing resources\nPerform all necessary design, analysis, and project management\nConduct TRR (Test Readiness Review)before all tests are started\nFind creative solutions to unique issues in order to save cost and schedule while improving overall quality and safety\nCome up with great ideas and be empowered to make them a reality\nDesign, analyze, and own the test setup\nContinuous learning/Improvement—and share them with your team members\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering discipline\n3+ years of experience in an engineering environment (test, launch, manufacturing, clubs, etc)\n\nPreferred Skills & Experience:\n\nAbility to design and perform product environmental testing based on the requirements provided in SMC-S-016, GEVS NASA-STD-7000a, MIL STD 810G. etc.\nExperience planning and executing engineering operations in a time-sensitive and high-risk environment\nOwn assembly, checkouts and development test stands\nAbility to quickly understand and troubleshoot new/existing systems\nExperience writing and executing test plans/procedures in collaboration with design engineers\nExperience with designing and implementing instrumentation systems\nExperience in structural design and analysis of test fixtures\nExperience working across engineering groups to define requirements and implement solutions\nExecute deliverables based on prioritized implementation plans and timelines\nAbility to rapidly change priorities between several projects\nIdentify key unknowns and quickly close knowledge gaps\nPerform structured root cause analysis of test failures\nExperience with working with DAQ software i.e. NI, Beckoff, and/or Dewesoft\nExperience working with DAQ hardware i.e. NI, Beckoff, and/or Dewesoft\nExperience operating / working with high-pressure gas systems\nExperience operating / working with GOX, N2O, and other high pressure oxidizer systems\nExperience generating test system P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) using Visio / Lucidchart or equivalent\nExperience with creating and maintaining project schedules with Smartsheet, Project or equivalent\nExperience with SVN, GIT, or other version management systems\nExperience with Teamcenter or other PLM systems\nExperience with CAD systems, NX preferable\nExperience with JIRA and/or Confluence\nExperience with selection of precision sensor and measurement devices (i.e. loadcells, thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow meters)\n\nAdditional Requirements:\n\nMust be able to work varying hours/shifts and available for extended hours as well as weekends when needed\nMust be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces; physically able to handle items weighing up to 25lbs (unassisted)\nAbility to handle working in extreme desert environment (20°F-115°F, UV Index 10+, local wildlife)\n\nPay Range:\n\nTest Engineer I: $86,000 - $120,000\nTest Engineer II: $110,000 - $155,000\nSenior Test Engineer: $130,000 - $190,000\n\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\n\nBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
