You'll work from drawings and instructions to set up tools, speeds, and cuts based on material and finish requirements. This entry level role also covers inventory tracking, material handling, and measuring finished parts for accuracy.Job Responsibilities:Operate saws for structural steel and a brake press for bending metalOperate overhead cranes to move materials and partsOperate machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and grinders according to production specificationsRead and interpret blueprints, route sheets, and job orders to determine setups, tooling, and sequence of operationsSelect and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts based on material and finish requirementsMeasure and verify parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure conformance to specificationsTrack inventory, label material, and handle receiving, routing, and storing of materialsFollow safety operating procedures throughout all projectsOther duties as assignedRequired Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentMust be able to read a tape measure1 year of machine operating experience preferred but not requiredAt Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
