THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION. In this role you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. Duties will include general labor duties related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.\nServices may include direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, hand pulling fiber cable, setting hand-holes and varies other jobs.\nResponsibilities:\nAll phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment.\nHand dig using shovel, mechanical tools.\nInstall and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling.\nOperate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.\nWorking in congested or remote areas.\nMaintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.\nPerform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor.\nMaintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.\nLearn all aspects of crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.\nSetup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.\nDevelop an understanding of buried utilities\nLift heavy equipment and supplies\nQualifications:\nMust have ability to follow directions\nPreferred 6 months experience installing, maintaining/repairing telecom systems\nStandard Driver’s License\nMust have the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete jobs\nMust have or able to obtain knowledge of “safety systems” associated with trenching and/or drilling.\nPhysical demands:\nWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.\nWork environment:\nWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subject to adverse conditions such as high humidity, high temperatures, high wind, extreme cold, rain, sleet, and snow.
