This role is responsible for structural development, verification, and sustainment of utility wind turbine components to meet the needs of WEG’s wind turbine platform growth.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nDesign structural machine parts using Solidworks.\nPrepare FE models, perform extreme and fatigue structural analysis while adhering to international design standards.\nPerform manufacturing deviation/non-conformity structural assessments.\nDevelop component specifications through collaboration with vendors.\nSpecify equipment, materials and components with oversight from senior engineers.\nPerform thermal analysis involving multiple forms of heat transfer.\nProvide commissioning and testing assistance.\nPrepare product development documentation using PLM software.\nOther duties and tasks as assigned.\nEducation:\nBachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanics or equivalent work experience.\nKnowledge / training:\nThorough knowledge of 3D solid modelling software (Solidworks preferred).\nExpert Knowledge of FEA software and methods including fatigue analysis of rotating structures (ANSYS preferred).\nUnderstanding of rotating electric machines, mechanical systems, and wind turbine technology.\nFamiliarity with mechanical design and safety standards related to large machinery.\nFamiliarity with weldments and casting non-destructive testing methods.\nThorough knowledge of MS Office applications, including Access, Word and Excel.\nExperience:\nMinimum of 4 years’ combined experience in the following:\nWind Turbine mechanical systems design.\nMechanical design, integration, testing, of large structural parts.\nWorking in a Manufacturing environment assessing non-conformities both from the factory and the field.\nLarge (multiple ton) structural part design, drafting, and testing.\nWorking within a Quality Management System.\nAbout WEG Electric Corp.\nWEG is the largest industrial electric motor manufacturer in the Americas and one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world producing more than 21 million units annually.
