This role sits within a Planning & Advisory consulting environment and provides technical leadership, analytical support, and project management across the full lifecycle of generation assets.The position plays a key role in guiding strategic decisions related to generation technology selection, Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), procurement, construction oversight, and long-term asset performance.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneration Strategy & PlanningLead feasibility studies, resource assessments, and long-term generation planning initiativesSupport Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) with technology performance analysis and scenario modelingTechnology Evaluation & SelectionEvaluate and recommend generation technologies based on regulatory, market, and operational considerationsDefine expected performance across various configurations and operating environmentsCost Estimation & Financial AnalysisDevelop capital and operating cost models across multiple generation platformsSupport business case development and investment decision-makingContracting & ProcurementSupport RFP development, bid evaluations, and contract negotiationsProvide technical input for PPA, EPC, OEM, and O&M agreementsConstruction & Execution OversightServe as technical advisor and Owner’s Engineer during constructionEnsure adherence to scope, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirementsOperations & Asset PerformanceAdvise on commissioning, performance optimization, and asset management strategiesSupport lifecycle planning, including decommissioning strategiesProject LeadershipManage projects from initiation through completionDeliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with client expectationsContinuous ImprovementDevelop and deepen subject matter expertise in generation technologies and marketsStay current on emerging technologies and industry trendsRequired Experience & QualificationsBachelor’s degree required (Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred)Master’s degree preferred10+ years of directly related experience in power generation or utility-scale energy projectsStrong foundation in thermodynamics, generation system performance, and plant operationsEngineering design and/or construction experience on generation projects strongly preferredDeep technical knowledge of generation technologies, including:Combined CycleSimple CycleReciprocating EnginesCoalEmerging technologies such as Hydrogen and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)Experience with regulatory frameworks, permitting, and grid interconnectionFamiliarity with renewables, battery storage, DERs, and energy efficiency as planning resourcesProfessional Engineering (PE) license preferredAbility to work independently with limited supervisionStrong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsBusiness development experience a plusWhy This RoleSenior technical advisory role with direct client impactExposure to complex, high-visibility generation projects nationwideFlexible remote work optionsCompetitive compensation and benefitsLong-term growth and leadership opportunity within a consulting environmentAddison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
