Partnering directly with customers, the engineer plans, designs, implements, and sustains secure communications and transport solutions that enable reliable data exchange across classified facilities and cloud environments. The role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment; monitoring system performance; and applying DoD Information Assurance policies. In addition, the engineer maintains a comprehensive library of engineering tools, produces detailed documentation and tutorials, and consistently applies leading‑edge standards and best practices to ensure a robust, compliant, and high‑performance networking environment.\n\nCORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES\nAble to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision:\nDesign and implement communications solutions which can be deployed to field/remote locations to connect secure facilities and support the exchange of required data within a cloud environment and network solutions based on organizational needs and best practices.\nAssist in the designing and implementing of approved networking and transport solutions to support long-term Information System (IS) management goals. Installing and configuring network equipment and providing support to systems administrators.\nConfigure and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points).\nPerform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve complex network issues.\nMonitor computer systems and network performance, analyze traffic, and optimize for efficiency and security.\nMaintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and procedural guides.\nCollaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on network planning, projects, and upgrades.\nProvide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.\nEnsure compliance with security standards and organizational policies.\nManage and maintain a library of network engineering tools, that can be used for system testing and diagnosis of network-related system issues both locally and abroad.\nApply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts to the development, maintenance, and implementation of network engineering standards, procedures, and guidelines.\nMaintain current knowledge and implement best practices in networking security to offer the best solutions and protection to information systems.\nProduce documentation to support installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and operator usage of systems worked on.\nContribute technical content and tutorials to product documentation\n\nSKILLS & ABILITIES\nPossess a deep understanding of:\nFive plus (5+) years of experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environment\nFive plus (5+) years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures\nMaintain, configure, operate and troubleshoot complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment (taclanes, firewalls, routers, switches)\nNetworking protocols\nNetwork monitoring tools and security implementations\nCloud networking concepts\nSecurity measures and frameworks\nAutomation tools for network management\nCloud computing platforms, preferred\nWork in Agile Management systems (e.g. Jira, Confluence, GitLab)\nDoD Information Assurance (IA) policies to be applied to the design and maintenance of communications solutions\n\nEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS\nBachelor of Science in STEM field Required\nIAT Level III Required\nOS Certification Required\nCompTIA Security+ Required\nCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Required\nCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Preferred\n\nTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS\nGeneral office environment\nComputer/Equipment lab\nTravel in support of distant end installations or break fix actions if they cannot be accomplished remotely.
