Description of Work
Salary Range: $41,206. to $72,113.
Works closely with and reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor I. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:
Work requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities, related equipment and machinery.
Position functions at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air, or similar specializations.
Work assignments are complex and require planning and coordination of multiple trade disciplines.
Employees work independently in performing assigned tasks but refers very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration.
Work will include the supervision of inmate workers engaged in semiskilled, unskilled or of skilled maintenance assignments.
Work is evaluated based on compliance with work orders and success in keeping equipment in proper working condition.
Employees may perform other duties as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and/or materials used in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings, equipment, and/or machinery.
Necessary Special Qualifications : May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits .

The salary grade for this position is NC09 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience
