The Business Development Manager will report to the company President and have the primary responsibility within the organization for developing business leads as well as driving the achievement of organizational sales goals. Responsibilities will include:Filling project pipeline to achieve company revenue and profit goalsAssess existing market status and research new market opportunitiesDevelop new business opportunity leads through research and consistent client/partner interactionsTrack company-wide business opportunity leads and champion lead follow-upFoster existing and establish new business partnerships and client relationshipsCoordinate and participate in conventions, conferences, and trade showsCreate and monitor documented sales processes for various types of sales throughout the organizationPerform proposal management duties including: scope development, cost estimating, and plan execution/coordinationFollow up on submitted proposals and drive proposal awardCommunicate client needs within the organization throughout all project lifecycle phasesProvide input on organization branding materials, media content, and supplemental proposal information (bios, project references, project profiles)RequirementsEducation* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical) from an ABET-accredited program is preferred* Masters of Business Administration is a plusQualifications6+ years of experience in service and consultant sales and/or business developmentDemonstrated technical knowledge of electrical components, PLCs, or Information Technology (industrial manufacturing or pharmaceutical experience preferred) or ability to learn high-level technical conceptsPossess knowledge of generally accepted business practices and commercial conceptsAbility to independently discuss relevant technical concepts (industrial electrical design and controls/automation) with clientsEffectively works with individuals in various organization levels, of diverse backgrounds in site or office settingsAbility to develop and maintain rapport with clients and partnersPersistent, persuasive with excellent communication and listening skillsWilling to travel up to 50% of the timeExcel Engineering OffersContinuing education and on the job trainingRetirement plan - 401(k) matchingMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceWellness programPaid time offFlexible schedule and work environment - Hybrid Work ScheduleBonus pay for OvertimeExcel Engineering is focused on cultivating a high performing culture where a service oriented approach, continuous improvement and goal orientation are valued.
