Position Type:DISTRICT SUPPORT/SPECIALISTDate Posted:4/20/2026Location:I&I: Instruction and InnovationPOSITION SUMMARYThe Grade 6-12 Math Specialist is responsible for supporting and enhancing mathematics instruction across middle and high school levels within the school district. This role focuses on improving student achievement by providing professional development, instructional coaching, and curriculum guidance to teachers. The specialist collaborates with 6-12 Math Science, educators, administrators, and district leaders to implement research-based instructional strategies, analyze student performance data, and develop interventions that support diverse learners.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONBachelor's degree requiredCERTIFICATION:Georgia PSC Certificate in Early Childhood Education required.Mathematics Endorsement preferred.WORK EXPERIENCE:Three (3) years of experience in a 6-12 school environment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESESSENTIAL DUTIESKnowledge of research-based best practices and interventions in the area of mathematics.Ability to promote collaborative planning as a component of school turnaround.Ability to analyze student and school data.Ability to effectively develop and deliver content-specific professional learning.ESSENTIAL DUTIESScreen and assess students to establish proper performance level in grades 6-12.Provide intensive instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students' classrooms.Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and interventions for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals.Monitor student progress and arrange for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.Serve as a resource in the area of mathematics for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community.Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of standards by assisting with data driven instructional planning, integration of technology and implementation of research based strategies.Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person, virtually and be able to work on-site, during regular business hours and as needed.Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONSThe physical abilities, working conditions and other conditions of employment listed in this document are representative of, but are not intended to provide an exhaustive list of the requirements for positions in this classification.
