Head of Compliance
A publicly listed energy company with a substantial U.S. and international presence is seeking a Head of Compliance to lead its global program from Houston. With over 1,000 employees and operations spanning multiple energy segments, the firm is navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment and looking to strengthen governance, oversight, and reporting. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this executive will play a critical role in shaping compliance strategy, enhancing infrastructure, and partnering with senior leadership and the board to drive a strong culture of integrity.The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, overseeing policies, training, monitoring, and global compliance initiatives. The Head of Compliance will manage a lean team, supervise external counsel and advisors, and serve as a key liaison for board-level reporting and regulatory engagement.Requirements:10+ years of compliance experience within energy, utilities, or a highly regulated industryPrior experience in a public company environment with exposure to board reportingDemonstrated expertise across global compliance frameworks, including policy development and training programsStrong understanding of U.S. regulatory regimes (e.g., FERC, SEC, anti-corruption, trade compliance)Experience managing and developing small, high-performing teamsProven ability to oversee external counsel, consultants, and third-party providersTrack record handling regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement mattersExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and executivesBachelor's degree required; JD or advanced degree preferred
