The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in preparing monthly financial statements, performing reconciliations, analyzing accounts, and supporting year-end audits for RHF's affordable housing communities. This position will work collaboratively with both internal departments and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.\n\nEssential Duties And Responsibilities\nFinancial Reporting & Analysis\n\nPrepare monthly financial statements for a portfolio of affordable housing properties in accordance with internal deadlines.\n\nResearch and analyze variances, providing detailed account analyses to ensure financial accuracy.\n\nReview and analyze accounts receivable (A/R) and rent data in coordination with property operations staff to ensure completeness and accuracy.\n\nGeneral Ledger & Transaction Management\n\nPrepare journal entries for recurring and adjusting transactions to ensure proper recording of revenue, expenses, and other financial activities.\n\nMaintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate coding of financial transactions.\n\nReconciliations\n\nPrepare and complete bank reconciliations on a monthly basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.\n\nReconcile tenant receivables and revenue accounts, ensuring consistency between financial records and operational data.\n\nAudit & Compliance Support\n\nRespond to auditor inquiries and provide supporting documentation for year-end audits, including resolution of open item questions.\n\nAssist in preparation of audit schedules and required financial documents for affordable housing regulatory agencies.\n\nCollaboration & Communication\n\nWork closely with operations teams, including property managers and regional staff, to clarify and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.\n\nCommunicate effectively with other departments to ensure alignment and understanding of financial reporting requirements.\n\nEducation\nNecessary Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Accounting required.\n\nExperience\n\nMinimum of two (2) years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in property management, non-profit, or affordable housing sectors.\n\nExposure to HUD regulations and affordable housing accounting is a plus.\n\nTechnical Skills\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Windows, and computerized accounting systems required.\n\nExperience with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting systems is helpful and preferred.\n\nCommunication & Interpersonal Skills\n\nGood verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, property staff, and auditors.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.\n\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\n\nCompensation\nActual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.
