For more information, visit www.enterprisedb.com*Candidate Note: This position is 100% remote for candidates based in North America.Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled PGD Developer to design, implement, and maintain the EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) product, a multi-master distributed PostgreSQL solution that provides high availability, geographic distribution, and active-active replication for enterprise workloads.As a member of the team, you will work directly on PGD's architecture design, development, testing, and documentation of new and existing capabilities with EDB's quality standards.What you'll be doing:Design, develop, test, and document new PGD capabilitiesMaintain and improve the performance and usability of existing PGD capabilitiesAnalyze business requirements and translate them into executable tasksProvide world-class production support to EDB's PGD customersParticipate in code reviews and collaborate with a globally distributed teamWhat you will bring:5+ years of experience in a software engineering positionStrong proficiency in C programmingExperience with PostgreSQL internals (storage engine, WAL, replication, catalog system, or extension development)Understanding of distributed systems concepts: replication topologies, consensus, conflict resolution, eventual consistency, and failure modesExperience working on multi-version/multi-branch codebases with active backporting workflowsFamiliarity with build systems and CI/CD practicesComfort working with Git on a large, long-lived codebase with complex branchingStrong debugging and performance analysis skillsWhat will set you apart:Prior contributions to PostgreSQL or other open-source database projectsExperience with logical replication, logical decoding, or custom replication solutionsKnowledge of distributed consensus algorithms (Raft)Familiarity with the PostgreSQL extension API and hook systemExperience with high availability architectures and failover mechanismsExperience with Python and RustExperience with the major Cloud Providers: AWS, Azure, GCPExperience with Ansible, Docker, and KubernetesEDB is committed to supporting our employees' overall well being by offering a range of benefits and resources to promote a healthy work-life balance and wellness.
