Join GPC and help drive the reliability, innovation, and performance that power our business forward.\n\nThis position is designed and intended to be performed in Washington, Indiana.\n\nPRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nLead the site's Instrumentation and Controls team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and day-to-day leadership to support safe and reliable operations.\nServe as the facility's subject matter expert for control systems, instrumentation, automation technologies, and operational technology (OT) systems.\nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and performance.\nTroubleshoot complex instrumentation and control system issues while partnering with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to drive timely resolutions.\nLead capital, reliability, and continuous improvement projects from concept through implementation, including contractor oversight and competitive bid management.\nEvaluate and implement new technologies, system upgrades, and design improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.\nCreate, maintain, and communicate technical documentation, standards, procedures, and training materials to support long-term operational success.\nEnsure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards while managing project budgets, capital requests, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nBachelor's degree in engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline; equivalent combinations of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.\n10+ years of experience supporting industrial control systems, including PLCs, DCSs, HMIs, instrumentation, and automation systems within a manufacturing or process industry environment.\nDemonstrated experience leading instrumentation, controls, automation, or reliability initiatives, including capital projects, system upgrades, and continuous improvement efforts.\nProven ability to lead and develop technical teams while building strong partnerships across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and contractor organizations.\nStrong troubleshooting mindset with a passion for diagnosing complex technical issues, improving system reliability, and driving operational performance.\nHands-on expertise with industrial communication networks and protocols such as Ethernet/IP, HART, DeviceNet, Profibus, DH+, or similar control system architectures.\nComfortable operating as both a strategic leader and technical contributor, balancing project leadership, team development, and day-to-day plant support.\nEffective communicator with strong project management, organizational, and training capabilities who can influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.\n\nTRAVEL EXPECTED:\n\nAbility to travel up to 10% as needed.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
