They are capable of working independently, working on longer term projects under supervision, conducting testing, troubleshooting, and collaborating with technical or non-technical colleagues through project execution as needed. The individual in this role will interact with all phases of the New Product Development (NPD) lifecycle including up front CAD Modeling and design definition, supporting production builds, creating BOM’s and drawings, as well as supporting new products in the field with technical support as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include The FollowingDesign company products using SolidWorks or other engineering softwareCreate engineering drawings for use in proposals and manufacturingCreate bills of material and routings for use in cost estimates and manufacturingCreate and/or guide other technical team members in authoring owner’s manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as requiredPerform engineering computations and analysis for sizing equipment componentsInteracts with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to execute timely NPD objectives that meet business objectivesEnsures accuracy and completeness of engineering deliverables from self and other technical peersProvides support to manufacturing on new products, especially in the areas of BOMs, Routings, design updates, and technical production questionsOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities This role has no direct reporting responsibilities Able to provide basic technical leadership in guiding cross functional peers through portions of the NPD processTravel DemandsThis position may require occasional travel to customer sites, often with little notice, including weekends and holidays in some cases.Qualifications & RequirementsStrong verbal and written communication skillsHands on and unafraid to dive into problem solving in many different environmentsWorking knowledge of manufacturing and engineering fundamentalsCAD proficiency is required, mastery is preferredWorking knowledge of ERPs (SyteLine is preferred) as well as PLM or PDM SystemsBasic knowledge of electrical controls, controls hardware, operation, and controls configurationWorking knowledge of power transmission systems including drives, pulleys, belts, motor specification, gearboxes and more, mastery is preferredAbility to perform fundamental engineering calculations employing software or by handFamiliarity with conveyors and material handling systems is preferred but not a requirementAbility to maintain positive and professional working relationships with all staff at all levels/functions of organizationSuccessful completion of 90-day probationary periodEducation & ExperienceFour-year degree in a relevant engineering field, preferably mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing, Master’s degree preferred.0-5 years’ experience in an applicable engineering fieldProficiency in modern manufacturing methods and processesAbility to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics and customer specifications.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers using English.Excellent math skills are required. Individuals in this position must be able to perform engineering calculations employing algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as required.Proficient with 3D CAD Software, SolidWorks, or 3DInventorProficient with 2D AutoCADProficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and OutlookPhysical DemandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer with frequent interaction in a manufacturing environment.Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. The employee works in an office setting but does have frequent interaction with the shop floor. On the shop floor, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
