Reporting to the Director of Data, this role combines technical leadership, people leadership, and strategic planning to create scalable, secure, and reliable data exchange capabilities across clinical, financial, operational, and enterprise systems.\nThis leader serves as both architect and builder, working hands-on to design and develop APIs, interfaces, integration patterns, and interoperability services while leading a small, high-performing team. The role will establish the architectural foundation for Pennant's interoperability ecosystem and drive the organization's ability to exchange, govern, and leverage data effectively across internal and external partners.\nThe Manager, Interoperability Architecture will partner closely with Data Warehousing, Clinical Applications, Enterprise Applications, Security, Infrastructure, and business leaders to deliver solutions that enable life-changing service through connected healthcare technology.\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nLeadership & Team Management\nLead, mentor, and develop a team consisting of interoperability engineering and product ownership resources.\nConduct hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development activities.\nEstablish team priorities, workload planning, and capacity management.\nFoster a CAPLICO-driven culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.\nBuild a high-trust environment that empowers team members to take initiative and solve complex\nproblems.\nArchitecture & Platform Ownership\nDefine and maintain the enterprise interoperability architecture strategy and roadmap.\nEstablish standards, patterns, and best practices for APIs, interfaces, event-driven integrations, and data\nexchange.\nDesign scalable integration architectures supporting growth, acquisitions, and evolving healthcare\nbusiness needs.\nEvaluate and recommend technologies, platforms, and architectural approaches.\nEnsure interoperability solutions align with security, governance, compliance, and operational\nrequirements.\nMaintain architectural documentation, standards, and reference designs.\nEngineering & Delivery\nDesign, develop, test, and support APIs, interfaces, and middleware solutions.\nBuild integrations between EHRs, operational systems, cloud platforms, vendor applications, and data platforms.\nConfigure and optimize integration engines and middleware technologies.\nParticipate in hands-on coding and solution delivery activities.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex interoperability, integration, and data exchange issues.\nImplement monitoring, alerting, and operational support practices for critical integrations.\nStrategy & Stakeholder Partnership\nPartner with business and technology leaders to identify interoperability opportunities and priorities.\nTranslate organizational goals into platform capabilities and technical roadmaps.\nCollaborate with vendors, implementation partners, and healthcare technology providers.\nSupport due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions and new business initiatives.\nDrive long-term interoperability maturity and healthcare data exchange capabilities.\nThe above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than\nthose stated in this description.\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Informa Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related field, or equivalent experience.\nExperience\n7+ years of healthcare information technology experience.\n5+ years of experience designing and implementing integration or interoperability solutions.\nExperience designing enterprise architecture for healthcare technology environments.\nExperience building and scaling interoperability capabilities, platforms, or programs from an early-stage or transformational environment.\nExperience leading technical teams and delivering complex technology initiatives.\nExperience working across multiple stakeholder groups including business, clinical, operational, and technical teams.\nTechnical Expertise\nExperience with several of the following:\nHL7 v2.x\nFHIR\nREST APIs\nSOAP services\nHealthcare interoperability standards\nIntegration engines and middleware platforms\nCloud integration architectures\nEvent-driven architectures\nEnterprise application integration\nAuthentication and authorization frameworks\nAPI management platforms\nData integration and transformation solutions\nSQL and database technologies\nSoftware development and application architecture\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in home health, hospice, post-acute care, or healthcare services organizations.\nExperience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale system integrations.\nExperience with Epic, HCHB, or other healthcare clinical platforms.\nExperience building enterprise API platforms\nThe employer for this position is stated in the job posting.
