This role is responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

Short staffed Core Lab generalist role at Sunshine LabKey ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating ProceduresMonitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityDemonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solvingPrepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controlsReport accurate and timely test results to support quality patient carePerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessaryAssist with specimen processing when neededMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipmentQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent education meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsMinimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience requiredState Medical Technologist license may be required depending on assignmentASCP or AMT certification preferred or required depending on assignmentAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficient with computers; laboratory information systems experience preferredStrong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skillsMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screeningFlexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needsWorking Conditions & Physical DemandsMust be active throughout the shift with frequent walking and movementComfortable working in cold walk-in environmentsAbility to work in a fast-paced laboratory settingMust maintain speed and accuracy while processing tubes and specimensStrong time management skills required to handle multiple priorities and workflow demands
