Structured Cabling Installer
Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician — Night Shift (4×10 Schedule)Shift Requirement (Mandatory)
This position is a permanent night shift role. Employees will work four (4) ten-hour shifts per week (4×10) during overnight hours.
This role does not rotate and does not convert to a day-shift position. Candidates must be willing and able to work overnight hours as their standard schedule.
Overview
The Structured Cabling Technician (Night Shift – 4×10) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of low-voltage cabling systems in secure commercial, institutional, and government facilities. Work is performed exclusively during overnight hours to meet operational and security requirements.
This position requires technical competence, reliability, professionalism, and strict adherence to safety and security protocols. Employment is contingent upon passing required background checks due to the secure nature of the work environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair structured cabling systems in low-voltage environments during night shift hours
Perform major and minor preventive maintenance by identifying and resolving cabling system issues
Identify, track, label, and remove abandoned or obsolete cabling in accordance with project requirements, security policies, and codes
Test and certify all newly installed or relocated cabling using approved tools and procedures
Ensure cabling is neatly routed, properly bundled, labeled, and secured while maintaining safety, workmanship, and security standards
Develop and maintain working knowledge of applicable National Building Codes, industry standards, and site-specific security requirements
Accurately document time, materials, test results, and work performed
Comply with all customer security policies, access controls, badging requirements, and confidentiality standards
Collaborate with team members to meet overnight project deadlines
Work safely in varied environments, including outdoors, in varying weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces
Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and electronic test equipment
Maintain professional conduct while working in restricted-access and high-security facilities
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage systems
Ability and willingness to work a permanent night shift (4×10 schedule)
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to pass required background checks for secure locations (mandatory)
Ability to pass required drug screening
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
Preferred Certifications & Training
BICSI certification (preferred)
Manufacturer-specific training (preferred)
OSHA safety training (preferred)
