In this role, you will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing on gifts in the $100K–$999K range, and lead all aspects of the donor lifecycle - from identification and qualification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. You will be responsible for developing and executing a regional fundraising strategy, partnering closely with colleagues across University Advancement and academic units to align donor interests with institutional priorities.As a highly external-facing role, you will spend time traveling throughout your assigned region to build relationships, advance donor conversations, and represent the university. You will collaborate closely with regional teammates, central development, and campus partners to coordinate outreach and maximize engagement opportunities.This role is ideal for a proactive fundraiser who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a fast-paced and relationship-focused environment, and is motivated by building connections across a broad region. You will contribute to regional strategy while personally driving results and helping grow a strong pipeline of major gift donors.Your Contribution Will Likely Include:Fundraising & Portfolio ManagementManage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing on gifts in the $100K–$999K range, and drive all phases of the donor lifecycle from identification through stewardshipDevelop and execute strategic, individualized cultivation and solicitation plans to secure philanthropic support aligned with university prioritiesProactively identify, qualify, and build a pipeline of new prospects across the assigned region through research, outreach, and engagementLead donor meetings and solicitations, making compelling cases for support across a range of university initiativesTravel within the region to engage donors, evaluate prospects, and advance giving conversationsRegional Strategy & CollaborationDevelop and implement a regional fundraising strategy in partnership with senior leadership and regional team membersCollaborate closely with other regional directors, central development, and academic units to coordinate outreach and maximize donor engagementPartner with programs including annual giving, gift planning, principal gifts, and alumni engagement to strengthen the donor pipeline and outcomesRepresent the assigned region in development meetings, contributing insights and strategy to broader advancement effortsRelationship Building & EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of the university across a geographically dispersed regionServe as a visible ambassador for the university, effectively communicating mission, priorities, and opportunities for impactPartner with faculty, administrators, and volunteers to connect donors with meaningful engagement and giving opportunitiesEnsure thoughtful stewardship and recognition of donors to foster long-term relationshipsPlanning & ExecutionSet and achieve annual fundraising goals aligned with regional and institutional prioritiesTrack and manage donor activity using CRM systems, ensuring accurate and timely documentationSupport planning and execution of regional events and engagement opportunities in collaboration with advancement partnersContribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and mission-driven team culture while maintaining high standards of professionalismExperience You Will Bring:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years of professional fundraising experience OR 5+ years of related experience (e.g., sales, business development)Demonstrated success building relationships and closing major gifts or equivalent high-value dealsStrong portfolio management skills, including prioritization and strategic planningExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiencesAbility to work collaboratively across teams and navigate a complex organizationCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionWillingness and ability to travel frequentlyPreferred Qualifications:Experience in higher education fundraisingExperience working with volunteer boards or advisory groupsWhat's in it for you:Salary: $90,000–$94,000 annuallyRelocation assistance availableComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, retirement plans, and generous paid time offLearn more about benefits here: https://hr.uoregon.edu/benefitsCommitment to Equity & Inclusion:The University of Oregon is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
