This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in low-voltage technology, structured cabling, and telecommunications.\nWorking under the direction of experienced technicians, the Apprentice Cable Installer will learn to install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot voice, data, and fiber optic cabling while following company safety standards and industry best practices.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nAssist with the installation of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low-voltage cabling.\nPull, route, secure, and dress cables through conduit, cable trays, J-hooks, raceways, and other cable pathways.\nAssist with terminating and testing copper and fiber optic cabling.\nLearn to read blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and cable pathway drawings.\nInstall cable support systems, including conduit, cable trays, ladder racks, sleeves, and raceways.\nLabel cables, patch panels, faceplates, and equipment according to project specifications.\nDocument cable installations and testing results accurately.\nAssist senior technicians with troubleshooting, repairs, and system installations.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.\nFollow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer site requirements.\nProperly use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).\nPerform other duties as assigned by project leadership.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred.\nAbility to learn structured cabling installation techniques.\nBasic mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with hand and power tools.\nStrong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.\nAbility to follow verbal and written instructions.\nValid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.\nAbility to travel to various project sites as needed.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience in commercial construction, low-voltage installation, electrical work, telecommunications, or structured cabling.\nOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.\nExperience using hand tools, power tools, and cable installation equipment.\nBasic understanding of structured cabling standards and installation practices.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.\nLift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work on ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and in confined spaces.\nAbility to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, and rain.\nWillingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overtime, based on project requirements.\nWork Environment\nCommercial construction sites\nIndustrial facilities\nEducational institutions\nHealthcare facilities\nData centers\nThis position requires frequent travel between job sites and hands-on fieldwork in active construction environments.\nWhy Join NCS?\nAt Network Cabling Services (NCS), you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals on commercial low-voltage and structured cabling projects.
