This is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.\r\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to\r\nResearch, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs to meet defined requirements.\r\nAnalyze user needs and translate them into functional software solutions using sound engineering and mathematical principles.\r\nUpdate software and enhance existing capabilities to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.\r\nCollaborate with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems effectively.\r\nDevelop detailed specifications and define performance requirements for new and existing applications.\r\nCoordinate database development activities as part of a collaborative technical team when required and maintain databases within assigned application areas, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security.\r\nDocument system designs, processes, and technical specifications to support lifecycle maintenance and future enhancements.\r\nMinimum Qualifications\r\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.\r\nA minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development.\r\nExperience designing, developing, testing, and deploying software applications.\r\nProficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.\r\nExperience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.\r\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.\r\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nExperience developing network-based or distributed systems.\r\nFamiliarity with database design, development, and administration.\r\nExperience integrating hardware and software components in complex systems.\r\nKnowledge of version control systems and automated testing frameworks.\r\nDHS experience\r\nClearance Requirements\r\nMust be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust suitability prior to starting this position.\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nMust be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time\r\nMust be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel\r\nConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer\r\nThe person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
