Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot issues as they arise on the manufacturing plant floor in a positive and timely manner.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n\nAbility to design new products/vehicles and make improvements to existing products using computer aided design (CAD) under the guidance of Directors and Managers.\n\nAbility to transform initial rough product ideas/designs into working engineering CAD models and drawings.\n\nBe able to conduct reviews of designs with production, dealers, and suppliers to gain final approval.\n\nDrive continual improvements in cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction through planning and designing methods to improve production processes.\n\nBe able to analyze data, review drawings, create plans to ensure quality and project feasibility.\n\nSupport Lean manufacturing to eliminate waste from processes and to reduce variability in designs.\n\nDevelop manufacturing work instructions, procedures, production flow.\n\nAbility to perform root cause analysis using Lean Manufacturing and/or statistical methodologies.\n\nResponsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment (from pilot build to fully operational production line) to achieve the production goals of the organization.\n\n2D drawings and Work Instructions are our output.\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nBS Degree in Engineering.\n\n7 Years minimum experience in companies that manufacture their own product on-site.\n\n7 Years minimum experience in CAD, 3 years’ experience in SolidWorks.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\n\nAbility to multi-task and function in a factory environment.\n\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\n\nMotivated, self-starter with the ability to learn quickly.\n\nAbility to network with associates in other departments to find needed information.\n\nWillingness to consider change and to adapt.\n\nQuick reaction to business opportunities.\n\nAutomotive experience preferred.\n\nSheet Metal Forming/Stamping Dies a plus.\n\nSurfacing or plastic design a plus but not required.\n\nTool and fixture design a plus but not required.\n\nSolidWorks PDM vault workflow preferred.\n\nKnowledge of Lean practices.\n\nCapable of tolerance stacks and analysis.\n\nKnowledgeable in common metal fabrication and machining processes.\n\nHands on ability to take designs and create physical prototypes.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\n\nAble to sit for long periods of time Frequently\n\nAble to stand for long periods of time Frequently\n\nAble to effectively operate CAD system Constantly\n\nAble to communicate effectively in all media Constantly\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be temporarily exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts when needed on the production floor. The noise level in the work environment is mild and conducive to normal office communication levels.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and use office equipment such as fax, computer, mouse, keyboard, phone, copier.\n\nSAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION\n\nThis position will conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations (such as 6S, Lean Manufacturing, OSHA, etc.).
