Electrical Design Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)Location: Hampton Roads, VA (Onsite) Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire Openings: 4OverviewWe are seeking multiple Electrical Design Engineers to support an advanced research and development initiative within the aerospace and defense industry. This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of high-reliability electronic systems used in cutting-edge space and environmental technologies.This is an opportunity to work on innovative projects contributing to next-generation exploration systems, satellite instrumentation, and mission-critical hardware that operates in extreme environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop high-reliability electronic hardware systemsSupport full product lifecycle: concept, design, simulation, prototyping, testing, and productionCreate schematics and develop PCB layouts using industry-standard design toolsPerform circuit analysis, simulation, and validation (including SPICE-based tools)Develop and integrate digital systems, including FPGA and microprocessor-based designsSupport hardware fabrication, assembly, and environmental testing effortsExecute verification and validation (V&V) to ensure system performance under rigorous conditionsCollaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teamsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldProfessional experience designing printed circuit boards (PCBs)Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or similar)Experience with circuit simulation tools (SPICE or equivalent)Strong background in digital circuit designExperience with FPGA and/or microprocessor programmingHands-on experience with hardware validation, testing, and debuggingPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware projectsExposure to RF, analog, or mixed-signal designFamiliarity with working in regulated or secure environmentsAbility to obtain a security clearanceDay-to-DayThis role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to design and develop electronic systems for advanced applications. Engineers will be responsible for analyzing, designing, simulating, fabricating, and testing electronic instrumentation and circuit boards that operate under extreme environmental conditions.Projects may include systems related to communications, robotics, environmental monitoring, and exploration technologies.
