Bring your willingness to learn, and we'll provide the training and support to help you grow.Make a difference in your community - apply today and start your path toward a rewarding public service career!Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Three (3) months of full-time equivalent experience in maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical equipment or a closely related experience.Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.Must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with an N-endorsement (Tanker Vehicle) within 180 days of employment.This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.Additional RequirementsThe incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, night or day, including extreme heat or cold, and under work conditions that may be disagreeable and potentially dangerous.The incumbent will be placed in a Wastewater Technician, Pump Station Mechanic or Wastewater Equipment Operator position at the discretion of the Director of Public Works upon successful meeting minimum qualifications.Click here for a complete job description.
