The ideal candidate is passionate about residential design, understands wood-frame construction, and can provide practical, cost-effective structural solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes.\nKey Responsibilities\nStructural Design & Engineering\nDesign and analyze residential structural systems, including foundations, floor framing, wall systems, roof framing, beams, columns, and lateral force-resisting systems.\nPrepare structural calculations, details, and construction documents for custom homes, additions, remodels, accessory structures, and multi-family residential developments.\nDesign structural solutions for open floor plans, large window openings, vaulted ceilings, decks, porches, and specialty architectural features.\nEvaluate existing residential structures and develop repair, reinforcement, and renovation recommendations.\nPerform structural assessments related to foundation settlement, framing deficiencies, water damage, and other structural concerns.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable building codes, local regulations, and accepted engineering practices.\nProject Coordination\nCollaborate with homeowners, architects, builders, contractors, and permitting agencies throughout the project lifecycle.\nAssist in the development and completion of permit and construction documents.\nCoordinate structural designs with architectural layouts and project requirements.\nParticipate in project meetings and communicate design recommendations clearly and effectively.\nManage multiple residential projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.\nConstruction Administration & Field Services\nRespond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and contractor questions during construction.\nReview shop drawings, product submittals, and delegated design elements for compliance with project requirements.\nConduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.\nDocument field observations and provide recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.\nSupport builders and homeowners with practical solutions to field-related structural issues.\nProfessional Skills\nStrong commitment to client service and project responsiveness.\nAbility to explain structural concepts clearly to homeowners, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.\nPractical and solution-oriented approach to residential design challenges.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate construction documents.\nDemonstrates accountability, professionalism, and sound engineering judgment.\nRequirements & Qualifications\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or equivalent.\n3–6 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in residential or light commercial construction.\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required;
