If you feel that you want to take part in the Salvation Army's mission by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in His name without discrimination, apply today!This is a full-time position that requires weekends and holidays, with the following schedule:3:00pm-11:00pmThe Intake Worker (Shelter Advocate) provides support to the Shelter Director by providing supervision and intake of clients, maintaining security, and providing supportive services in a Christian atmosphere.About the role:Conducts intake interviews of incoming residents into shelterAssigns a proper room and distributes needed bedding and personal itemsProvides necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followedMaintains an awareness of client needsAnswers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriateCleans shelter areas as necessaryPrepares snacks for shelter residentsOversees lunch and dinner preparations in dining roomReviews log book and updates entries as neededPerforms room inspectionsDistributes medications as neededSupervises volunteers and community service workers, when assigned.Education: High school diploma or equivalentCertifications: N/AExperience: Experience working with the homeless population desirableThe Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
