Facilities Technician

Position OverviewThe Facilities Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of The Center’s buildings and its equipment. This includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesRegularly inspect and perform preventative maintenance on key building systems (i.e., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).Support Operations Manager in drafting and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.Conduct routine inspections of The Center’s building exteriors (i.e., Groundskeeping, landscaping, pest control).Troubleshoot, repair, and replace damaged building components (i.e., drywall, flooring, ceilings).Perform cleaning, carpentry, and painting tasks.Ensure assigned equipment is in proper working order and available for use.Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all building equipment.Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and functional environment.Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and ensure safety standards are followed throughout the facility (local, state, and federal).Participates in the emergency preparedness planning team.Applies or assists with the application for required environmental permits.Maintains an inventory of supplies; reorders as needed.Assist with building renovations and upgrades.Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsMust be mechanically inclined with basic shop skills (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry).Must be able to work with various materials and tools and operate heavy equipment.Must read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.Must work a flexible schedule, including Sundays and evenings, as necessary.Ability to be trained on security responsibilities.Always maintain professional and courteous behavior and provide excellent customer service to all building users.Knowledge & SkillsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.May be exposed to noise, dust, and other hazardsEducation RequirementsAt least two years of related experience is required.High school diploma or GED required.Possess a valid driver’s license.Starting pay: $18.00 per hour Benefits:403(b) W/Employer percentage matchHealth InsuranceDentalVisionEmployee Assistance Program – EAPPTOPaid holidaysFloating HolidaysBirthday time
