Industrial Machinist (Shipyard / Marine Work)

Job Description We are currently seeking experienced Inside Machinists to support shipyard operations throughout the Hampton Roads area. This role focuses on the repair, overhaul, and installation of mechanical components aboard naval and commercial vessels.Ideal candidates have hands-on experience working in confined shipboard spaces and are comfortable performing precision machining, alignment, and mechanical work in an industrial marine environment.Key Responsibilities:Perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of shipboard machinery and mechanical systemsAlign, install, and troubleshoot pumps, valves, turbines, and propulsion componentsUse precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicatorsRead and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and ship specificationsOperate machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, and portable toolsConduct shaft alignments, bearing inspections, and equipment rebuildsWork in confined spaces, tanks, and engine rooms as requiredFollow all safety procedures and shipyard protocolsQualifications:2+ years of experience as an Inside Machinist, Marine Machinist, or Industrial MechanicShipyard or marine experience strongly preferredAbility to pass required background screenings for shipyard accessKnowledge of propulsion systems, pumps, and auxiliary equipmentExperience with precision alignment and mechanical tolerancesComfortable working in physically demanding environments (heat, confined spaces, heights)Preferred Experience:Naval shipyard or repair yard experienceExperience with laser alignment toolsRigging or equipment removal/installation experienceTrade certifications or apprenticeship trainingCompensation & Benefits:Competitive pay based on experienceOvertime opportunities availableWeekly payMedical and DentalOpportunities for long-term placementWork Environment:Work is performed in shipyards, dry docks, and aboard vessels.
