The CNC Programmer performs analysis of drawings and models and creates a program within Mastercam to machine the materials to the specifications in the most efficient manner on simultaneous 5-axis machines. This includes the utilization of CIMCO probing and validating programming through Vericut. They are responsible for creating the process for complex, precision machining on high-dollar exotic material assets. This process includes creating a set-up sheet, and tooling list, creating a critical dimension sheet or control and manufacturing plan, and being responsible for managing tooling to standardized tooling and submitting requisitions as required. They also support manufacturing with troubleshooting as needed.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nPerform complex programming in Mastercam for horizontal and vertical mills, and lathes, working with various materials (Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, Aluminum, Stainless Steel, etc.).\nPerform detailed analysis of parts configuration/dimensions to determine the most efficient machining operations required for production.\nUse Mastercam to calculate and write programs for CNC machines to fabricate parts to stated engineering specifications for aircraft and space engine hardware, continuously improving upon existing processes and updating programs accordingly.\nVerify programming through Vericut simulation software.\nDefine and maintain machining processes by studying customer blueprints and testing manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment.\nCommunicate with and assist Manufacturing Engineering for the design and development of work holding, custom tooling, and gauging to meet customer inspection specifications to support production schedules, as needed.\nSupport the production floor with hands-on technical support by troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to keep machines running conforming parts.\nDrive continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities in machining processes by leveraging new cutting and automation tools with external vendors.\nManage tooling returned from completed jobs (evaluate condition, sharpen as needed, and put away in vending solution, etc.).\nCreate and maintain tool setup sheets, record programming changes, document programs on engineering checklists, and sustain appropriate engineering paperwork.\nSupport, mentor, and train CNC Programming Technicians and CNC Programmer levels I and II; dependent upon experience and level assigned.\nDistribute workload to, review work of, and lead CNC Programming Technicians and CNC Programmers as appropriate; dependent upon experience and level assigned.\nParticipate in and support continuous improvement efforts.\nAct as subject matter expert to lead corrective action and root cause analysis discussions utilizing the appropriate method and tool (i.e. fishbone, 5-why, etc.).\nAct as point of contact for the Programming department and liason for workflow communication with Quality, Management, and Operations; dependent upon experience and level assigned.\nOther duties as assigned.\nKnowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nHighly proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks.\nAdvanced to expert knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Datum Structure Review.\nAdvanced understanding of tooling and work-holding.\nExpert technical writing and critical thinking skills.\nIntermediate to advanced understanding and experience in RCA and CAR methodology and tools; i.e. fishbone, 5-why, Pareto, scatter diagram, etc.\nStrong technical expertise; in programming and applications support, fixture and tool design and selection.\nAdvanced communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university (Engineering degree strongly preferred).\n3 – 8 years of programming experience with multi-axis machining; simultaneous 5-axis programming experience highly preferred.
