We are hiring an Associate Director for our local growth & expansion team to accelerate revenue growth across our local markets through new partner acquisition and intentional account expansion.Why it matters: This is a high-impact, revenue-driving role responsible for building pipeline, closing new business, and expanding Axios' footprint across local markets. This role requires both individual production and strategic thinking at the territory level.In this role you'll:Own and grow a local territory by developing and executing a clear outbound sales strategy, with a focus on net-new revenue and category expansionBuild and maintain a robust pipeline through consistent prospecting, networking, and market engagementIdentify, prioritize, and win new business with local and regional advertisers, leading the full sales cycle from outreach to closeWorthy of your time: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios' mission. This position requires the following:5+ years' experience in sales, specifically in the digital media/news industry, with a strong emphasis on outbound/new business developmentProven track record of consistently exceeding revenue targets, particularly through new logo acquisitionStrong presence and confidence in selling to senior decision-makersExperience developing territory or category-level sales strategiesUnderstanding of digital media, online marketing technology, and Axios' competitive landscapeStrong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to lead deal execution across internal teamsExisting relationships within local/regional advertiser and agency ecosystems preferredHighly motivated, resilient, and energized by prospecting and closingWillingness to travel and represent Axios in-marketStarting salary for this role is in the range of $66,000 - $87,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.Note that the total compensation offered for this role includes incremental variable compensation based on sales territory, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets.Axios is committed to embracing artificial intelligence as a core part of how we work.
