Job Title: Technical Lead (Client Devices Infrastructure-Lab Operation)Location: SFO, CA office 2-3 days in a weekDuration: 12+ Months ContractJob Description:Job Description: Technical Lead (Client Devices Infrastructure-Lab Operation)Role OverviewAs the Technical Architect for Client Devices, you are responsible for the lifecycle, security, and performance of all endpoint hardware and software within the lab. This includes high-performance workstations, mobile devices, and specialized lab-connected peripherals. Your goal is to ensure researchers have seamless, secure access to the tools they need while maintaining strict compliance and data integrity.You will be responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and management of client device infrastructure. You will ensure the seamless integration of lab devices, oversee complex infrastructure setups, and lead innovative strategies to enhance lab capabilities while maintaining rigorous security and compliance standards.Key AccountabilitiesInfrastructure Strategy & ManagementArchitectural Strategy: Design and maintain a scalable client device architecture that supports complex research applications and high-throughput data processing.Endpoint Management & Automation: Lead the design and implementation of Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions (e.g., KACE SDA/SMA, SCCM, Intune) to automate provisioning, patching, and software deployment.Backup Solutions: Architect and set up infrastructure to manage comprehensive device backups.Hardware Lifecycle: Evaluate and standardize “Next-Gen” hardware (GPUs, VR/AR, specialized sensors) to ensure compatibility with lab instrumentation.Virtualization & Remote Access: Architect VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) or DaaS solutions for researchers needing high-compute power remotely.Monitoring & Healing: Deploy Nexthink solutions for proactive monitoring and automated healing of the device environment.Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between the Research R&D teams and the broader Corporate IT/Security departments.Device Integration & Directory ServicesActive Directory: Design and set up the Active Directory structure and security groups.Policy Management: Configure Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and manage generic accounts for lab device access.Vendor & Project OversightVendor Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, facilitating high-level communication and resolving complex issues.Performance Evaluation: Monitor vendor performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations.Project Planning: Define project scopes, resource allocations, and timelines for major device-related initiatives.Security, Compliance & RiskPolicy Enforcement: Ensure all client devices strictly adhere to organizational security policies and regulatory standards.Risk Mitigation: Identify potential security vulnerabilities within the device ecosystem and implement proactive mitigation strategies.Innovation & Continuous ImprovementTechnology Evaluation: Assess emerging technologies and lead the implementation of upgrades to enhance lab capabilities.Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term strategies for device management and integration within the broader organizational environment.Staff Development: Develop training programs for lab personnel on device operations and foster a culture of continuous learning.Education: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field is required.
