Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will oversee a team of accounting professionals while playing a critical role in financial reporting, month-end close, process improvement, and internal controls.\nThe ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a passion for building efficient, scalable processes. This individual will be instrumental in improving close timelines, enhancing reporting accuracy, implementing best practices, and leveraging technology, automation, and AI tools to create a more efficient accounting function.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing accounting leader who wants to make a meaningful impact while positioning themselves for future advancement within the organization.\nKey Responsibilities\nAccounting & Financial Reporting\nLead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.\nEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.\nReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.\nAssist with the management of the annual audit process and external auditor relationships.\nSupport tax compliance activities and coordination with external advisors.\nMaintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.\nLeadership & Team Development\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.\nEstablish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.\nFoster a collaborative, solutions-oriented team culture.\nProvide coaching and professional development opportunities for team members.\nProcess Improvement & Operational Excellence\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function.\nEvaluate and redesign accounting workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.\nLead efforts to shorten and improve the month-end and year-end close process.\nDevelop and document standardized accounting policies and procedures.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation and technology.\nTechnology & Automation\nLeverage AI, automation tools, and modern accounting technologies to improve productivity and reporting.\nPartner with finance, operations, and technology teams to improve data integrity and system effectiveness.\nEvaluate opportunities to streamline recurring accounting and reporting activities.\nBusiness Partnership\nCollaborate with operational leaders and business partners across the organization.\nProvide financial insights and support decision-making through accurate and timely information.\nAssist the CFO with special projects, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.\nExperience managing or significantly contributing to month-end close processes.\nDemonstrated success improving accounting processes and operational efficiency.\nExperience leading or mentoring accounting staff.\nStrong organizational and project management skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred\nCPA designation preferred.\nPublic accounting experience and/or corporate accounting leadership experience.\nExperience with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms.\nExposure to automation, workflow optimization, and AI-enabled tools.\nExperience supporting external audits and internal control environments.\nCharacteristics of Success\nThe ideal candidate will be:\nA leader who develops people and drives accountability.\nProcess-oriented and committed to continuous improvement.\nTechnically strong with the ability to research and apply accounting guidance.\nResourceful and proactive in solving problems.\nHighly organized with strong attention to detail.\nComfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.\nA strong communicator who can build relationships across all levels of the organization.\nNaturally curious about technology and how AI can improve business processes.\nIndustry Experience\nTransportation, logistics, or trucking experience is helpful but not required.
