This position supports the Controller/CFO in overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role partners in identifying and implementing technology, automation, and artificial intelligence solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance business insights across the accounting function.\n\nEssential Functions:\nContinuously evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.\nIdentify, implement, and optimize automation and artificial intelligence tools that support accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and financial close activities.\nLeverage technology and data analytics to improve decision-making, reporting accuracy, and operational effectiveness within the accounting function.\nEstablish appropriate governance, review processes, and documentation standards for AI-assisted work to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, data security, and audit readiness.\nStay informed on emerging accounting technologies and recommend practical applications that support business objectives while maintaining strong financial controls.\nMajor Responsibilities / Specific Requirements:\nExpert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.\nExcellent understanding of governmental guidelines and tax laws that affect the brand.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.\nAbility to evaluate technology solutions and leverage automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.\nAbility to critically review AI-generated analyses, reports, and recommendations while maintaining appropriate professional judgment.\nUnderstanding of data privacy, confidentiality, and controls related to financial information and AI-assisted processes.\nHighly organized with keen attention to detail.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nProficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software systems.\nCollaboration and teamwork skills.\nPromote the culture, values, and mission of Smoothie King.\nEducation and Experience Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field. CMA or CPA certification, preferred.\n10+ years of progressive experience with strong accounting skills.\nDemonstrated deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Co-op governance.\nComplex cash management experience required by leveraging multi-channels.\nSales tax management experience in multi-states.\nTax management experience specifically for inventory, retail, or consumer packaged goods is preferred.\nExperience leveraging automation, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, or advanced analytics tools to improve accounting, financial reporting, or operational processes is preferred.\nMust demonstrate exceptional proficiency in Excel.
