RN must be skilled with magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, and heparin infusions. Description: Position focus is on providing care for postpartum patients and their newborns. The RN will ensure assessments and vital sign monitoring are completed for both mother and baby. The role includes administering medications and managing complex feeds for newborns. The RN will be responsible for conducting glucose screenings and phototherapy for newborns as needed. The position requires competencies in maternal care, including magnesium and insulin infusions. Additionally, the RN must assist with circumcisions and provide discharge teaching to parents. The nurse will perform fundal assessments and care for episiotomy or incision sites. Knowledge of infant identification and maintaining infection control precautions is essential. The RN may need to float to other units within the hospital as required. The RN will provide education on breastfeeding and infant care, including car seat safety. Weekend shifts are required unless otherwise specified. This position does not include call requirements.
