Data Specialist

QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Proficiency with use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Professional communication skills.Experience and/or familiarity with special education regulations and terminology preferred.Minimum of three (3) years data entry experience preferred.Essential ResponsibilitiesDedicated Data Specialist to support school-based access initiatives by managing, analyzing, and interpreting data related to student services and resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management and analysis within an educational setting, ensuring that all data supports equitable access to educational opportunities.ResponsibilitiesData Collection and Management:Gather and input data related to student enrollment, participation, and access to educational programs and resources.Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data by regularly updating and auditing databases.Coordinate and support the mandated data entry into local LEA student reporting systems by school districts for special education.Coordinate, oversee, test and analyze special education data exported into PA Information Management System (PIMS) to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the special education data entered and submitted by local districts.Reporting:Prepare and present comprehensive reports on student access metrics, program effectiveness, and areas for improvement to school administrators and stakeholders.Create visual representations of data (e.g., charts, graphs) to facilitate understanding.Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as required.Quality Assurance:Implement data quality assurance protocols to verify the accuracy of data collected and reported.Investigate and resolve data discrepancies or issues as they arise.ComplianceEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local education regulations regarding data privacy and security.Stay informed about best practices in data management and educational access initiatives.Training and Support:Provide training and support to staff on data entry procedures, reporting tools, and best practices for data use.Facilitate communication and networking opportunities between district personnel responsible for student reporting, PDE Bureau of Special Education, service providers and other Intermediate Units.Coordinate CPR & First Aid training for classroom staff.Any other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education or designee.Program/ClassificationSpecial EducationReports ToDirector of Special Education and/or DesigneeMethod Of EvaluationThis position shall be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education in accordance with the ACT 93 and Support Staff Compensation Plan.This job description is subject to change by the Executive Director.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesN/ATerms Of EmploymentEmployment shall be twelve [12] months per year.
