Navy Yard.\nJob Description:\nThe Systems Engineer will directly support the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Digital, Network, Cyber Group (DNCG) System Engineering Manager. Supported areas may include: Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS), Federated Machinery Local Area Network (FMLAN), Steering Gear Control System, Voice, Video, Navigation, Integrated Bridge System. Auxiliary and/or Electrical System field device support, data logging and damage control software applications. Occasional travel to the Tidewater area of Virginia may be expected in this position.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nFunction as a cognizant systems engineer for assigned projects, you are expected to proactively manage all relevant tasking within these projects.\nParticipate in multi-disciplinary teams, build consensus with numerous stakeholders, and coordinate with teams of engineers and support staff to complete projects.\nCoordinate in small teams (2 to 6 staff members) on multiple projects. This includes technical feedback and guidance, task tracking, and team communications.\nReview reports and study results from government and industry partners, provide technical recommendations, adjudicate comments, and prepare official technical correspondence.\nCoordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.\nReview technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.\nDevelop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelors degree from an accredited university in engineering or a related technical discipline\n7+ year’s of experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS), Federated Machinery Local Area Network (FMLAN), Steering Gear Control System, Voice, Video, Navigation, Integrated Bridge System. Auxiliary and/or Electrical System field device support, data logging and damage control software applications.\nGood project management, technical writing, and organizational skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or systems engineering from an accredited university.\nExperience with shipboard networks and systems with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine.\nPrior Carrier, Submarine, or Surface Ship (Navy or Coast Guard) system engineering experience is preferred, but not required.\nClearance Requirement:\nMust have an active or current Secret security clearance and U.S. Citizenship\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position 50%\nThe person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.\nMust be able to exchange accurate information in these situations\nConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer\nThe projected compensation range for this position is $110,800-$185,500. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
