You will lead our advancements in tracker product vision, innovation, enhancements, and improvements, as you drive our next-generation products and features. Working with all levels of management, engineering, and other departments, you will create and select state-of-the-art technologies and products. This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.\n\nKey Job Responsibilities:\n\nIdentify and contribute to mechanical, structural, and civil engineering product improvements, technology vision, and roadmap.\n\nDefine needs and goals for new products in design, cost, and manufacturability.\n\nProvide recommendations on mechanical aspects of new concepts.\n\nEvaluate existing products and identify opportunities for improvements.\n\nCreate concepts and preliminary designs for new products and product improvements.\n\nPrepare complete mechanical drawings using SolidWorks for fabrication of testable prototypes.\n\nAnalyze and assess product concepts for customer needs, ease of installation, business cases, manufacturability, reliability, and safety.\n\nContribute to the design review process and provide input on critical design decisions.\n\nObtain components/supplies/equipment to support prototype assembly.\n\nConduct preliminary OEM vendor assessment/selection.\n\nAnalyze different materials, techniques, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, etc.\n\nFabricate and tests new designs.\n\nRecommend best product innovations and concept designs to bring into the product line.\n\nProvide regular management updates.\n\nCreate and maintain necessary documentation.\n\nCoordinate prototype fabrication by working with machine shops and other engineering teams.\n\nParticipate in prototype assembly and revision.\n\nDefine test scope/criteria and coordinate testing with other engineering teams.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications:\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering\n\n3+ years of experience with SolidWorks\n\n3+ years of design experience with structural components and hardware, gearing, and/or drivetrains\n\n2+ years of experience thoroughly and accurately documenting design intent, analysis results, test results, etc.\n\n2+ years of experience with electromechanical production machinery\n\n2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, 3D CAD and ERP\n\n2+ years of experience defining and setup of tests and running experiments\n\nPreferred qualifications:\n\nMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering\n\nStructural component design, civil engineering and wind loading experience\n\nDesign skills (e.g., FEA, DFA, DFM, design-for-cost, etc.)\n\nExperience working in a matrixed environment\n\nBackground in product development\n\nTrack record of delivering products\n\nExperience in the solar industry\n\nKnowledge of utility-scale PV plant design and construction\n\nExperience with Stage Gate Product Development processes\n\nMetal/steel fabrication experience\n\nAbility to work well independently as well as part of a team\n\nKnowledge in application of design-for-reliability\n\nExceptional communication, organizational, prioritizing, time-management, and multi-tasking skills\n\nAbility to work across multiple organizations in a fast paced, smaller company environment\n\nAt Array Tech, Inc., we strive to lead with our culture, and believe that our people are a key enabler of our future state.
