Job DescriptionPosition Title: Coordinator of Religious Education & Youth MinistryParishes: St. Anthony & St. PatrickSupervisor: PastorStatus: Full-Time, Salaried with BenefitsPosition SummaryThe Coordinator of Religious Education & Youth Ministry organizes and directs the parish Wednesday evening Religious Education program for public school students and coordinates youth ministry initiatives that foster discipleship among middle and high school students.This position forms children, youth, and families in the teachings of the Catholic Church in alignment with the Diocese of Green Bay and supports parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith.Culture & Mission AlignmentThe Coordinator:Is a faithful, practicing Catholic who lives in full communion with the teachings of the Church.Promotes missionary discipleship and joyful witness to the Gospel.Encourages parents in their vocation as primary educators of their children.Builds a culture of respect, dignity, and Christian charity.Supports the pastor in advancing the parish’s vision and mission.QualificationsKnowledgePracticing Catholic in good standing who actively lives the sacramental and moral life according to Church teaching.Knowledge of Catholic theology, and catechesis. Having a degree is preferred.Experience in parish catechesis or youth ministry preferred.Skills & AbilitiesStrong organizational and leadership skills.Ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.Clear and effective communication with parents, youth, clergy, and staff.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn parish software platforms (eCatholic, WeShare).Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.Duties & ResponsibilitiesI. Religious Education Program (Wednesday Evening)Plan, organize, and oversee the parish Religious Education program (Grades 1–11).Develop and maintain the annual Religious Education calendar.Select and evaluate curriculum and catechetical resources.Recruit, train, supervise, and support catechists.Conduct catechist orientation and ongoing formation.Maintain communication with families regarding schedules, sacramental preparation, and expectations.Coordinate sacramental preparation in collaboration with the pastor.Ensure integration of catechesis with parish liturgical and sacramental life.Maintain attendance records and program documentation.II. Youth Ministry (Elementary, Middle & High School)Coordinate and implement approximately 8–10 youth ministry events annually.Collaborate with diocesan youth ministry initiatives and encourage participation.Plan retreats, service opportunities, and faith-building activities.Provide leadership and adult supervision at youth events.Foster community, discipleship, and sacramental life among parish youth.III. Volunteer & Community EngagementRecruit and support volunteers for Religious Education and youth activities.Encourage parental involvement and support faith formation within the home.Maintain positive working relationships with clergy, staff, and parish leadership.Serve as ex-officio member of the Board of Education.IV. Administration & ComplianceAssist in preparing and monitoring the Religious Education and Youth Ministry budget.Oversee registration, invoicing, and financial tracking.Develop newsletters, bulletins, and promotional materials.Serve as Local Safe Environment Coordinator (LoSEC), managing training, background checks, and diocesan compliance.Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to diocesan policies.Write letters of recommendation as requested by students.Assist with fundraising or grant opportunities as needed.V. Parish MinistryCollaborate with parish staff to support the overall mission of the parish.Attend diocesan workshops and conferences as directed.Perform additional duties as assigned by the pastor.ADAPhysical/Visual/Mental Demands:The employee works primarily in an office setting but may regularly sets up and take down occupied spaces used for religious education and youth events. Employees may stand, walk, bend, kneel, or lift, push, or carry up to 25 pounds. The role requires regular use of hands, talking, hearing, and visual abilities, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.Typical Working Conditions:The person in this position will work primarily in an office environment, independently, with occasional collaboration as needed. The role may require travel to off-site parish or community youth events, including retreats and other activities on evenings and weekends. Flexible hours may be needed to accommodate longer workdays or special events.Nature of Supervision Received:Receives minimal supervision. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:Requires independent judgment and decision-making in moderately complex situations.
