As part of our dynamic team, the intern will gain hands‑on exposure to the design and development of electrical sub-systems and components for our innovative KARNO generator technology, working alongside experienced engineers to build practical, real-world engineering experience. We equip every team member with leading AI tools and count on you to use them - to move faster, solve harder problems, and help us realize the full potential of KARNO technology for the world.\r\nDuties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with detailed design of electrical system schematics, wiring harnesses, custom circuit hardware and control modules for our innovative generator system.\r\nSupport production change management process by identifying and implementing engineering improvements to on‑going production builds.\r\nWork in the R&D lab and Hyliion generator test site with hands‑on support of system prototypes and production hardware.\r\nDesign and build one‑off electrical test boxes for generation integration efforts\r\nIntegrate next‑gen engineering builds and own the documentation package for the installation and testing of those builds.\r\nWork on the analysis, design, simulation and testing of electronic circuits for our next‑generation electrical systems for the KARNO generator\r\nSupport mechanical packaging and system design to support electrical/thermal requirements.\r\nAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, needed, or required for the business.\r\nQualificationsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\r\nQualifications include:Education, Experience and CertificationsCurrently working towards their bachelor’s in electrical or computer engineering.\r\nNo prior work experience is required, but strong understanding of relevant electrical engineering concepts through demonstration of school projects and/or home projects is required.\r\nRequired Skills and AbilitiesUnderstanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles.\r\nCoursework or project exposure to electrification systems (batteries, motors, inverters, PDUs, embedded controllers) is a plus.\r\nCoursework or project exposure to packaging electronic components and interpreting electrical manufacturing documentation\r\nCoursework or project exposure to troubleshooting electronic systems\r\nCoursework or project exposure to schematic and/or PCB design tools like AutoCAD and/or Altium Designer\r\nUnderstanding and interest in high‑voltage electrical systems\r\nFamiliarity with electrical system modeling and simulation using tools like MATLAB-Simulink, PSPICE, or LTSPICE.\r\nFamiliarity with 3D modeling tools\r\nApproaches a problem with a smile and excitement.\r\nCollaborative personality with a willingness to learn and adapt.\r\nProven ability to cross‑collaborate with individuals of all walks of life and experiences.\r\nHumbled by the engineering principles and the unknowns of the world.\r\nStrong sense of what it means to be a self‑starter with demonstrated personal ownership and creative vision\r\nGood problem solving and good communication skills, excellent numeracy and spatial awareness.\r\nAbility to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.\r\nRole Classification and Working ConditionsThis is an hourly, non‑exempt‑level position.
