That's what we do every day.\nThe COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.\nResponsibilities\nAreas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:\nPerform engineering tasks in support of the Flight and Ground Systems such as Avionics, Electrical Power, Pyrotechnics, Comm and Tracking, Ground Instrumentation, Kennedy Ground Control Systems engineering group.\nCandidate will support preparations for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft as well as Ground Support Systems.\nInitial assignments will focus on understanding the ground application software used during ground processing and vehicle launch. Developing Work Authorization Documents to process, test and launch the SLS Rocket and Orion Spacecraft and Kennedy Ground Control Systems.\nCandidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow.\nPerform other duties as assigned\nQualifications\nCandidates MUST have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.\nDepending on the candidate’s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.\nPhysical Requirements\nWill be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.\nClimbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.\nWill be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.\nPosition may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.\nPhysical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.\nMust be able to work in tight confined space areas.\nWork Environment\nAll work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.\nWill be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.\nPosition requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.\nWalking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.\nEquipment and Machines\nOperate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.\nPersonal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.\nAttendance\nWork assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.\nMust be dependable and punctual.\nOccasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule\nOther Essential Functions\nIf offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.\nNeeds to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.\nMust have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.\nGovernment security clearance may be required in the future.\nMust be able to travel to support position requirements.
