Title: Mechanical Engineer IIILocation: Charlotte, NC | OnsitePay Rate: $62 /Hr on W2Type & Duration: 12 plus months contract possibility of extension based on demand.Scope of this position:The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the development, design, installation, and integration of advanced mechanical equipment for manufacturing processes.This role involves the design, development, and delivery of mechanical equipment and automation solutions to meet performance and reliability criteria.The candidate will leverage their expertise in mechanical design, motion systems, manufacturing assembly techniques, and system integration to drive innovation and continuous improvement, while ensuring safety and industry standards compliance.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this role.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer with experience designing, installing, and supporting mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment. They are comfortable working in the field during equipment build, start-up, and commissioning, and can collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, contractors, vendors, and plant stakeholders. This person is organized, self-directed, and able to balance technical problem-solving with practical execution to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and design mechanical components, fixtures, and systems ensuring compliance with safety and industry standardsUtilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Inventor) for detailed design workProvide hands-on technical input and troubleshooting support during mechanical equipment installation, start-up, and commissioningSupport start-up, qualification, and performance verification of mechanical equipmentVerify mechanical equipment build, assembly, and layout against drawings and design intentCoordinate installation plans for mechanical equipment with safety teams, plant receivers, and other stakeholdersWork with Corning engineers, vendors, and contractors to resolve mechanical equipment installation, build, and performance issuesEnsure safe work practicesUpdate mechanical drawings, equipment documentation, and installation records to reflect field changes and final configurationsRequirements:Experience with mechanical equipment design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and debug in a high-volume manufacturing environmentExperience implementing mechanical equipment design solutions in a production/manufacturing environmentSkilled in mechanical design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor for equipment layouts, assemblies, and design updatesKnowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, vendors, and contractorsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesSelf-directed with sound judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervisionFamiliarity with adjacent engineering disciplines, including electrical, civil, controls, process, and facilities, to support mechanical equipment integration
