The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing efficient SQL queries, maintaining datasets and databases, creating analytical reports, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires a blend of technical development skills and analytical thinking. The position reports to the Senior Data Scientist, under the direction of the Data Operations team leader.\nJob Duties\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDesign, write, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and scripts for use in both data lake (BigQuery) and relational database platforms (SQL Server).\nDevelop and maintain ETL processes to integrate and transform data from multiple sources.\nEnsure data integrity, accuracy, and performance across databases and other data environments.\nAssist with database maintenance, schema design, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.\nDevelop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (Looker, Power BI).\nTranslate business requirements into analytical solutions, datasets, and data models.\nPrepare and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nConduct ad-hoc analysis to support ongoing business needs.\nAnalyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.\nWork closely with application development, operations, finance, and business teams to understand data needs.\nProvide analytical support for strategic initiatives and performance tracking.\nDocument data flows, business rules, queries, and reporting logic for internal knowledge sharing.\nQualifications\nSkills We’re Seeking:\nStrong proficiency in SQL (e.g., complex JOINs, window functions, CTEs, indexing).\nExperience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.\nHands-on experience with ETL tools or processes (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, etc.).\nProficiency with data visualization tools (Looker, Power BI, or Tableau).\nStrong Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas).\nUnderstanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, normalization, fact/dimension tables).\nFamiliarity with at least one programming language used in data analysis (Python or R preferred).\nExcellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.\nStrong documentation and organizational skills.\nCompensation Data\nThis is a non-exempt, full-time position with a base range of $65,000 - $72,000, in addition to an annual performance bonus up to 10-15%.\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.\n2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, SQL Developer, or in a similar data-focused role.\nExperience with BI dashboards, data modeling, and SQL development is required.\nCertifications in data analytics, SQL, cloud technologies, or BI tools are a plus.\nAdditional Information\nWhat We Offer: *\nPaid time off and paid holidays\nOpportunities for advancement\n401(k) retirement savings plan with a company match\nEmployee-owned company and discounted stock purchase options\nGroup health plan\nEmployee referral bonus program\nLocations throughout US in major cities and desirable areas\nScholarship program for children of employees\nCharitable matching gift program\nall listed benefits available to eligible employees\nThe Davey Tree Expert Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
