This role involves enhancing and scaling the backend systems using advanced algorithms for load management and ensuring compliance with energy-related standards and protocols such as OCPP and OCPI. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on high-impact, greenfield projects and further develop our charging infrastructure. We are looking for a seasoned backend engineer with a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and implement robust, scalable software solutions.\nRequired Skills and Experience:\nHighly proficient in NodeJS/TypeScript; knowledge of Python is a plus.\nStrong experience with Cloud services, Microservice architecture, and SQL/NoSQL DBs.\nProven ability to design and implement effective load management algorithms and other backend processes critical for energy management in a large-scale, distributed system.\nFamiliarity with electric vehicle charging standards such as OCPP and OCPI.\nDemonstrated results in building scalable, performant backend services.\nDeep understanding of cloud technologies, database management, and modern coding practices.\nAbility to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, and agile environment, serving as a technical leader and mentor.\nExcellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.\nB.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.\nHighly Preferred:\nFamiliarity with GraphQL, AWS, Lambda/EKS deployment and Gitlab CI/CD\nExperience with high-availability systems and fault tolerance.\nBackground in energy systems or related fields.\nExperience with regulatory compliance specific to the energy sector.\nThis role is primarily remote with periodic in-person meetings required in our Los Angeles office and occasional travel as needed. You will be part of a team that is distributed across the US. EVgo is headquartered in Los Angeles.\nFor job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $150,000 USD to $170,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
