The Psych Technician will provide inpatient and outpatient care at the Acute Psychiatric and Intermediate Unit.\n12 months of experience within the last 18 months with clinical psychiatric.\nLevel one national Psychiatric Technician certification or equivalent.\nCore Duties:\nAssist in initial intake assessments and triage interviews.\nSchedule patient appointments through the CHCS computer system. Coordinate and assist the Primary Care Provider in contacting patients who miss appointments.\nAssist in counseling and orient patients to the unit procedures and policies.\nPerform ward searches, monitor use of dangerous items. Answer telephone calls and relay pertinent information to providers if required.\nAssist in a variety of treatment modalities including but not limited to biofeedback, stress management, and group therapy.\nCoordinate and perform routine training in prevention and management of assaultive behavior.\nAssist with patient education.\nPerform routine ward procedures for admission, discharges, and patient transfers.\nMonitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.\nManage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.\nUnderstand the rules of confidentiality as applies to patient and health care provider during all aspects of care; instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.\nPerform ongoing risk assessment; assist in maintaining therapeutic milieu.\nTranscribe physician’s orders.\nDevelop a therapeutic relationship with psychiatric patients; observe patient progress during treatment.\nOrganize and facilitate patient groups and activities.\nEscort patients safely on and off the unit, know the patient management for elopement risks; take patients out on field trips.\nMonitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.\nManage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.\nMaintain all records required on patients to include data entry and retrieval on CHCS and CIS computer systems.\nPerform a range of diagnostic support duties which include but is not limited to drawing blood for lab studies; collect and label specimens; take vital signs; and assist the doctor in a variety of diagnostic examinations.\nOperate the outpatient front desk areas; assist patients with questions and information; offer courteous and attentive assistance.\nEnsure that all records are properly maintained, constructed, and secured in a controlled access area.\nPerform psychiatric testing/screening evaluations if certified and as directed.\nExperience/Education:\nGraduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.\nPossess at least a level one national Psychiatric Technician certification or equivalent.\n12 months of experience within the last 18 months with clinical psychiatric experience.\nLicensure: Possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician OR Licensed Practical Nurse/ Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.\nMust have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.\nCape Fox Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates provide equal employment opportunities to all persons and prohibit employment decisions on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, disability, political affiliation, protected veteran status, or sexual orientation.
