In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision, architecting, and leading the implementation of complex distributed systems that are central to our VCF offerings. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving innovation and excellence in our product development lifecycle and delivering those solutions.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nDefine and drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for critical services within the VCF vCenter portfolio\r\nSpearhead the architectural design and development of highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed services that power our customers demanding infrastructure.\r\nContribute significantly to the hands-on implementation of core system components, setting an example for code quality and engineering excellence.\r\nIdentify and resolve complex technical challenges, acting as a key troubleshooter and problem-solver for critical system issues.\r\nCollaborate seamlessly with product management, quality engineering, and other teams to translate business goals into elegant technical solutions.\r\nEnforce the highest standards for performance, scalability, and security across the design and implementation of our systems\r\nQualifications\r\nBachelors degree plus 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a lead architect or principal engineer role focusing on distributed systems or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experience\r\nProven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.\r\nDeep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts, technologies ( e.g. distributed databases, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models)\r\nProficiency in one or more relevant programming languages: This role requires strong Java and C++. Additional languages (Python, GoLang) a plus.\r\nExperience with virtualization technologies, particularly the VMware stack (vSphere, ESXi), is highly desirable\r\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.\r\nThis position is 100% on-site located in Palo Alto, CA.\r\nMust have legal authorization to work in the US\r\nCompensation and Benefits\r\nThe annual base salary range for this position is$141,300 - $226,000.\r\nAs a valued member of our team, you'll be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and the opportunity to receive not only a competitive new hire equity grant, but also annual equity awards, connecting your success directly to the company's growth.
