The club hosts a variety of activities, events, and sub-clubs for its members while organizing public fundraisers. Funds raised through these efforts directly support local causes via our Community Grants Program and academic scholarships. CCLM proudly fosters community engagement and meaningful connections across the Joint Base Lewis-McChord area.Role DescriptionThe President provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and community representation for CCLM. In this vital volunteer role, you will chair board meetings, manage organizational compliance, oversee financial health, and coordinate closely with club officers and committee chairs. The President serves as the primary liaison between CCLM and military and community leadership, ensuring the club effectively executes its mission of outreach, fundraising, and community support. Key Responsibilities1. Governance & Strategic LeadershipPreside Over Meetings: Chair all membership, Executive Board, and Governing Board meetings, including a joint transitional meeting of incoming and outgoing officers at the end of the board year.By-Law Compliance: Execute all duties as outlined in the CCLM By-Laws and request electronic mail votes from the Governing Board when necessaryCommittee Oversight: Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees, with the exception of the Nominating Committee.Board Appointments: Appoint General Board and special committee chairs, subject to the approval of the Executive Board.Voting Rights: Maintain strict neutrality, voting or making motions only in the event of a tie.Succession Planning: Direct an orderly, complete, and documented transition to the succeeding Governing Board at the end of the term.2. Financial & Legal ManagementFiduciary Accountability: Maintain a personal bond, sign authorized contracts/obligations on behalf of the Governing Board, and co-sign all disbursements (checks) exceeding $750 (i.e., $750.01 and above).Budgeting: Formulate and submit a proposed operational budget to the Budget Committee at the beginning of the Board Year.Fund Management: Disburse funds in the event of a temporary absence of the elected Treasurer.Audit Oversight: Ensure an independent financial audit is performed systematically in accordance with CCLM constitutional procedures.Fundraising Compliance: Request formal approval from the Approving Garrison Authority and execute Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) for all major public fundraising initiatives.3. Community Relations & AdvocacyPublic Representation: Act as the primary liaison between CCLM and Military & Community leaders. Attend and speak on behalf of CCLM at all Garrison and I CORPS informational briefings.Advisory Presence: Serve on—or appoint a qualified representative to serve on—all JBLM advisory meetings and relevant community organization boards.Advocacy & Compliance: Drive CCLM advocacy initiatives forward while ensuring total legal compliance across all organization activities.4. Operations & LogisticsProperty Accountability: sign for government property utilized by CCLM, including the facility building, appliances, and equipment.Facility Management: Assign a HIVE Manager to maintain CCLM building access, and ensure the Recording Secretary retains an updated registry of all physical keys and security lock codes.Performance Tracking: Collect written After Action Reports (AARs) within 30 days of every club event, alongside a comprehensive annual AAR.Communications: Manage the CCLM voicemail system, distributing incoming messages to the appropriate board members in a timely manner.Board & Partner Relations: Coordinate formal recognition for the Army Advocate Team and Air Force Advocate Team at their first attended membership meeting, ensuring their attendance fees are fully waived. Manage the Governing Board appreciation gifts Preferred QualificationsLeadership Experience: Proven track record in strategic planning, volunteer coordination, and organizational management.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with comfort in public speaking and executive briefings.Event & Fund Management: Expertise or familiarity with non-profit event planning, public fundraising initiatives, and community engagement.Financial Literacy: Competency in non-profit financial oversight, budget creation, and fundamental audit structures.Mission Alignment: A deep passion for supporting military service members, veterans, and their families within the JBLM community.APPLY DIRECTLY: https://www.communityclublm.org/board-positions-application
