The manager is responsible for two or more direct reports and spends the majority of their time planning and forecasting workflow as well as and directing, coaching and development the team members.\nThis Drafting Manager maintains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of a business process and development and coaching of the team responsible for that process. He/she is accountable for mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectations. The majority of this role’s effort is spend supervising two or more employees and managing overall team expectations.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nCoordinates with sales, design and other departments to oversee the gathering of specifications necessary for all engineering and drafting requirements.\nCoordinates drawings with other drafters involved in common projects to ensure projects are completed in a timely organized manner.\nSupervises and coaches lead draftsman and draftsman ensuring their engagement and development.\nKeeps abreast of current architectural standards and other engineering tools and techniques to ensure the efficiency of the overall engineering and drafting process.\nManages project priorities to meet shifting timeline needs.\nIdentifies and calculated cost savings in the design and engineering of houses.\nEnsures accurate, timely preparation of the most complex engineering construction documents for a factory assembly line. This will include designs and specifications of floor plans, floor framing plan, elevations, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roof framing, DWV isometric, cold and hot isometrics, and energy systems in accordance with manager’s directions, instructions, design concepts, and sales orders.\nEnsures maintenance of generation of floorplan approval documents and submittals.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nA minimum of six (6) years of architectural design experience is desired.\nDrafting experience in the manufactured home business is expected, but not mandatory.\nProficiency with architectural desktop software such as AutoCAD preferred. CAD certificate from trade school or equivalent preferred. Note that some locations do not use architectural desktop software while some locations require AutoCAD proficiency.\nWorking knowledge of wood construction systems designs.\nUnderstand building Codes for both HUD and MOD specifications.\nAbility to research construction codes and references (IRC or IBC).\nA very solid residential plumbing and electrical knowledge.\nHigh School diploma and formal drafting or engineering certification or bachelor’s degree.\nMath skills to include a solid understanding of geometry and trigonometry.\nProficient in Microsoft office tools (Outlook, Word).\nMust be able to effectively coach and develop other employees.\nMust be able to work across organizational teams to facilitate common understanding and coordination to achieve common goals.\nMust be able to perform work on a timely schedule while working as part of a tight-knit design team.\nAbility to work additional and/or alternative hours depending on deadlines and company needs\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nStrong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.\nSelf-starter with strong work ethic.\nAbility to work in a complex deadline-oriented environment.\nExcellent mechanical aptitude.\nAbility to follow verbal and written instructions and guidelines in order to work with minimal supervision.\nAbility to multi-task.\nAbility to keep abreast of current CAD standards to maintain drawing and bill of material development process.\n\nCavco Industries is committed to providing equal employment opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status with respect to recruitment, hiring, promotion and other terms and conditions of employment.
