Job SummaryThis Project Manager role for the Regeneration department strengthens Burning Man Project’s capacity to design, test, track and share regenerative systems by blending departmental administration with high-level project oversight. This role serves as the lead in developing processes and managing sustainability pilots that unite technical operations and innovation with cultural impact in Black Rock City.This is a full-time role based in either the San Francisco or Reno office. In office attendance is expected 3 days per week. In addition, there are responsibilities in Black Rock City for a period of 3-4 weeks, and in other locations as needed. Working hours will be based on Pacific Time.The deadline to apply for this role is 5:00 pm Pacific on June 12th, 2026.Duties & Essential Job FunctionsProject Development and Management (30%)Lead designing frameworks and evaluation processes for the testing of emerging technologies in Black Rock CityEvaluate and scope opportunities with the Director of Regeneration and Event Operations teams, and recommend pilot projectsDevelop project briefs and plans, ensuring project management processes and documentation meet organizational standardsFoster engagement among staff, partners and the community to align technical results with Burning Man cultureProject Tracking & Operational Administration (30%)Drive Asana integration and SOP roadmap implementation to improve departmental coordination on the Net Zero BRC portfolio supported by the Regeneration DepartmentMaintain departmental trackers and files in Google Drive for version control and accessibilitySupport working group scheduling, meeting agenda production, and post meeting follow-upManage portfolio-level finance trackers and provide insights to inform departmental planningStandardize templates and SOPs to ensure cohesion across all working groupsPre-Event & On-Ground Event Logistics (20%)Coordinate deployment, planning and on-playa logistics, including contract negotiations, resource requests and trackingSupport field execution of regenerative projects, ensuring compliance, safety, and successful implementation (gate access, resource requests, entry item, etc)Contribute to on-playa data collection and documentation of projects and collaborationsFacilitate on-ground community engagement, such as guided tours and/or workshopsReporting & Communications (15%)Translate technical data and project outcomes into clear, engaging narratives for internal, public, and donor communicationsCreate visually compelling presentations and reportsSupport data collection processes for annual impact measurements and reportingContribute to the development and execution of communication plans and strategyOther Functions (5%)Perform other duties as assignedLEARNING AND TEACHINGDocumentation - Drives the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to assigned dutiesTeaching – Takes a leadership role in the acculturation and training of staff. Teaches live or e-learning classes, as requested. Promotes a culture of teaching and learning throughout the communityMentoring - Mentors subordinates in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and experience that will allow them to advance in the organization. Aids, encourages and inspires their teamTraining development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requestedLearning – Pursues ongoing learning in their area of expertise, working to stay current on emergent knowledge, skills, and processes.
