You’ll work closely with development, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure database platforms.\nYou will also contribute to modernization initiatives focused on database architecture improvements, platform resiliency, and scalable data solutions across hybrid environments.\nThis is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite at our Plano, Texas corporate headquarters.\nResponsibilities\nSQL Server Performance & Optimization\nDesign and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and database objects\nAnalyze execution plans and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks\nMonitor and tune SQL Server environments using DMVs, Query Store, wait statistics, and enterprise monitoring tools\nDevelop and maintain indexing strategies for high-volume transactional workloads\nResolve issues related to CPU, memory, I/O, blocking, deadlocks, and storage latency\nPartner with engineering teams on schema design, query patterns, and database best practices\nHigh Availability & Disaster Recovery\nImplement and support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and log shipping\nDevelop backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies aligned with business RPO/RTO requirements\nConduct failover and recovery testing to ensure operational readiness\nSupport resilient database architecture across on-premises and hybrid environments\nSecurity & Compliance\nImplement database security controls including encryption, access management, audit logging, and separation of duties\nSupport compliance initiatives related to PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards\nManage technologies such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Always Encrypted, and column-level encryption\nOperational Database Management\nSupport database deployments and schema changes using structured release processes\nWork with version control and CI/CD tools such as Flyway, SSDT, and GitLab\nInvestigate production incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventative improvements\nMonitor database health and performance using enterprise observability platforms\nDatabase Upgrades & Modernization\nPlan and execute SQL Server upgrades and migrations\nIdentify compatibility risks, deprecated features, and remediation strategies\nContribute to modernization initiatives involving scalable database architectures and reduced technical debt\nEvaluate appropriate use cases for relational, object storage, and NoSQL platforms\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of hands-on experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments\nStrong expertise in:\nT-SQL development\nQuery optimization\nExecution plan analysis\nIndexing strategies\nSQL Server architecture\nExperience troubleshooting production database performance issues\nExperience implementing SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions\nStrong understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance best practices\nExperience supporting enterprise production environments\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases\nExperience with SSIS, ETL workflows, or data integration pipelines\nExperience supporting cloud-hosted or hybrid database platforms\nFamiliarity with monitoring tools such as:\nSolarWinds DPA\nDatadog\nGrafana\nSplunk\nExperience with automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code\nFamiliarity with database CI/CD and deployment tooling\nExposure to modernization initiatives involving microservices, NoSQL platforms, or service-aligned database design\nCompensation & Benefits\nBase salary range: $130,000 – $140,000\nTarget annual bonus: 10%\nCompetitive benefits package\nHybrid work environment\nOpportunities for professional growth and advancement\nWhat Success Looks Like\nThe ideal candidate:\nIndependently manages production SQL Server environments\nHas strong expertise in query execution, indexing, wait stats, and performance diagnostics\nTroubleshoots complex database issues with confidence and urgency\nUnderstands enterprise HA/DR architecture and recovery planning\nBalances modernization efforts with operational stability and risk management\nMaintains high standards for security, compliance, and reliability\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nData Analysis Incorporated is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
